Like Tribe and Civicspace, Flickr also uses social networking, but Flickr concentrates on photography and tools for publishing photographs. It parses and exports EXIF and IPTC for the Web so users need not rewrite captions and metadata. Tags and folksonomies let us survey and follow trends and news of what people are shooting. Naturally Flickr includes all kinds of upload tools, a search engine, organizers & albums, groups & discussions, privacy & licensing options including Creative Commons, and even chat. I also have Javascript to capture and upload images from the Web without requiring me to download first. I really cannot imagine taking on this project without knowing this best-of-breed and other photo blogs.

For Outdoor Museum flickr.com/groups/rochester/ is especially significant.
